Swatch watches
The Swatch watch was born to help the Swiss watch market compete with the cheaper Quartz movement watch collections launched by Japanese companies in the 1980s. These Japanese watches had nearly crippled the Swiss watch industry with their super reliable movements, sold at a fraction of the price of the average Swiss watch.
In order to launch a product to compete, three Swiss men joined forces and launched Swatch – the first fun, affordable Swiss watch with a quartz battery-powered movement but with a price tag to match its Japanese competitors.
Swatch watches have a bold style that is instantly recognisable. Swatch was one of the first water-resistant watches in their class and with designs that appear like works of art they revolutionised the watch industry and changed things forever.
Still, as popular today, as they were in the 1980s Swatch, it’s a retro watch that has never lost its fun, vibrant and colourful tradition. Checking the time on a Swatch will always bring a smile to your face!
